Treacherously beautiful and not for the faint hearted, The Times newspaper ranked it first in the ‘World’s Top 25 Scenic Spots’ in 2012. The Simatai section will give you a truly historic atmosphere with its original appearance still preserved. Diving down dramatic inclines with original wall ruins, sturdy walking gear and great willpower, rewards you with views few have ever seen due to the difficult climb in this part of the wall!. Majestic cliffs and towers where time has stood still is a breathtaking moment to share . Alternatively, for those not keen on the climb, a cable car or night tour provides a completely different experience of the Great Wall.
2. Masai Mara to Serengeti migrations in September
Witness one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World” in the Maasai Mara and the Serengeti National Park. Dubbed, The World Cup of Wildlife, this migration is one at the very top of our bucket list! 7. Explore the Blue Grotto, Amalfi Coast
The world-famous Blue Grotto is a geological wonder in the Capri Island that has been famously celebrated through history. Explore the winding cobblestones of the Amalfi and wonder through the umbrella lined, spectacular cliff side streets. Enjoy the sun and sea views with a playful gelato or one of Italy’s world famous coffees to fuel up before your trip to the Grotto. Arrive with your camera but more importantly with all your senses in the moment. After your exhilarating entrance into the grotto (you will see what we mean when you have to lie down in your rowboat) then enter, a whole other world. You can imagine how and why ancient Romans would visit here and return with myths of magic and mermaids. The waves into the grotto captures and bends the sunlight to create an ethereal aqua-blue glow from below and as the gondola guides begin to sing, the harmonics in the rock formation sounds more heaven than human. 8. Watch the sunrise atop the Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu
This historic sanctuary stands 2,430 m above sea-level. It’s surrounded by the incredibly beautiful tropical mountain forest of the Amazon and steep rock escarpments. 12. Charter a catamaran or yacht in the Caribbean

Keep your eyes open for the famous Madagascan Lemur and spot other strange and wonderful oddities in the flora and fauna that is Madagascar. Vist the Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve, aptly named as “tsingy” which means “where one cannot walk barefoot”. The Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve in Madagascar features a spectacular and otherworldly geography filled with razor-sharp rock pinnacles, wild birds and lemur, damp caves and mangrove forests. From there, go for a sea change to the azure blue waters of Constance Tsarabanjina which is the quintessential island paradise. With a strict policy of no news, television or phones this digital detox beach escape is a rare and refreshing find in today’s hectic bustling world.
Oh and did we mention pirate country? Visit Tana for a ” yo ho pirate’s life” trip 300 years back in time. The pirate history that put Madagascar on the world map.
14. Reach the summit of Drakensberg, South Africa
The grand Dragon Mountains stretches for over a thousand kilometres and rises to nearly 11,400 feet. Marvel at the endless panoramic terrain as you conquer the summit. If a typical hike is something you’ve already done, then this holiday, why not appreciate the sweeping views Drakensberg from the wings of a Paraglider? Or try your hand at rock climbing, Mission Impossible style from the edge of a cliff face. You can also enjoy the many resorts around the region or delve into the outdoors with activities like horseback riding, fly-fishing and of course camping. The spring or autumn seasons is the best time to visit the Drakensberg Mountains for wonderful weather and summer (Late October to Early March) offers mountains that are lush and green, although, rain may appear suddenly and at any time! On the plus side, the colours of the mountains transform vibrantly after the rains and it is a photographer’s dream. November is best for flora aficionados.
15. Walk on clouds, visit the Bolivia Salt Flats
Walking on clouds? No we aren’t just talking about that first kiss we are talking about the world’s largest salt flat! The magnificent and breathtaking Salar de Uyuni, amidst the Andes in southwest Bolivia. This thousand-mile landscape of bright-white salt that seem to go on forever will leave you breathless when its transforms into an astonishing “mirror” during the wet season. The thin coat of water glazes the salt flat to create a cosmic mirror of spectacular clouds where horizon and sky blend seaelessly. The perfect “vanilla sky” by day, complete with pastel pink lakes, Monet would be right at home.
You can also visit it at night to see the starry night sky reflected on the salt flat’s surface. Enter Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” come to life. A real life wonder of nature’s canvas!
16. US Highway 1: along the Pacific Coast, from mountaintops, to the iconic Big Sur.
Strap your seat belts and have a road trip throughout the Pacific Coast Highway that stretches 147 miles along the California coast. Named the All-American Road, this highway will give you and your partner thrilling adventures and a driving experience like no other. Rent a convertible and roof down, do a wind-in-your-hair drive through grandiose cliffs, extravagant hills, and scenic views of the Pacific. Need a stop over? Explore Post Ranch Inn for a breathtaking spot for a nightcap and perhaps a dinner high atop the cliffs at Sierra Mar.
If you and your significant other are animal lovers, then this escapade is perfect for you. Visit the gorillas in Volcanoes National Park and have a truly life-changing adventure. It’s home to the Mountain Gorilla as well as other animal species like monkeys and birds. Get to know these fascinating creatures up close as you visit the park. Whilst in the area, also take the chance to visit an Intore Traditional Village and experience the cultural dance of the people. If time permits, why not try the Waterfall trail through some of the most photographed beautiful vine-entwined rainforests in the world? At the end of your hike your reward is a remote, spectacular waterfall and a chance, for a romantic secluded dip for two.
18. Stand before the Iguazu falls
The marvelous Iguazu Falls is absolutely breathtaking and there are very few words to describe the experience of seeing them with your own eyes. With 275 falls spraying spectacular running water, it is one of the largest waterfalls in the world and has awed tourists and locals alike. Situated between the border of Brazil and Argentina the World is your oyster from here! Will you Tango your way through the streets of Argentina, perhaps into Mendoza wine country? Or perhaps you will venture to the southern most city in the world, Ushuaia and board for a cruise to Antarctica? Alternatively perhaps Brazil is more your scene with choices varying from the beaches of Salvador, the Amazon rainforest or the headiness of Rio de Janeiro!
